Kisspeptin-54 is a naturally occurring neuropeptide derived from the KISS1 gene that plays a central role in regulating the reproductive hormone axis. Research suggests that it acts primarily on the hypothalamus to stimulate the release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which in turn drives the secretion of luteinising hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) from the pituitary gland—key hormones for fertility, puberty initiation, and gonadal function. Studies have shown that it is a critical “gatekeeper” of reproductive function, with disruptions in kisspeptin signaling linked to conditions such as hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, delayed puberty, and infertility. Because of this, synthetic kisspeptin-54 has been studied in both men and women as a potential diagnostic and therapeutic tool to assess or modulate reproductive hormone activity
